Tasked with designing a magazine issue focusing on graphic design, I decided to highlight diversity in the graphic design community. From the history of black artists in the industry to up-and-coming artists studying at design schools, the issue celebrates these designers and showcases their work. The issue aimed to emphasize the importance of diversity in the graphic design industry. As a graphic design student, I felt I had yet to see successful black and brown designers and their work. I created this issue with the intention of finding not only back and brown designers but also communities where they are supported and uplifted. All work displayed in the magazine was designed by the artists written about in each article. The articles were sourced from various pre-existing graphic design publications. The project was an exercise in creating unique, thoughtful layouts constrained by assigned images and articles.
